The Sleeping Giant
How does this make you feel?
I was on a routine flight from Brussels to Oslo when I looked out the window and saw something extraordinary. At first glance, it was just another cloud formation, but as I studied it more closely, a massive figure began to emerge.
There it was—a sleeping giant, lying peacefully among the clouds at 35,000 feet. The figure was perfectly proportioned, with a clearly defined head. The way the light hit the cloud layers created natural shadows that enhanced the three-dimensional effect.
What struck me most was how obvious it became once I saw it. These formations are like optical illusions—once your brain recognizes the pattern, you can't unsee it.
I quickly grabbed my phone and took several shots, adjusting the angle to capture the formation from the best perspective. The phone camera did surprisingly well, capturing the subtle variations in cloud density that make the shape so apparent.
This was one of those moments that reminded me why I love looking out airplane windows. While other passengers were reading or sleeping, there was an entire story unfolding in the clouds outside :-).
